The establishment of the club in April 2003 was made possible though
a ‘Start Up’ grant
from the Lisburn Borough Council and is the
recipient of a substantial award from the
National Lottery’s ‘Awards
for All’ scheme to go towards the purchase of Judo Mats.
The club was originally named Moira Judo
Club. Since January 2006 the Club has gone through some minor
changes. Recently the club has had a name change to
"HAZAMA Judo
Club".
The Japanese word HAZAMA translates to "Valley".
The name was selected by Head Coach Mark Montgomery.
This change came about as Mark first trained at the Valley Dojo.
The Junior club is now re-named to "HAZAMA Maghaberry" and is
still based in Maghaberry Primary School.
For Senior members training sessions are held at
"Chum Sut Dojo"
